AGGELAKIS S.A., which began in 1962 as a small family-owned poultry farming business in Evia, is celebrating 60 years of successful presence in the industry. Over the decades, the company has evolved into a vertically integrated poultry farm unit, offering over 200 direct and indirect jobs and making a significant contribution to both the local and national economy.
In 2022, the company’s turnover is expected to reach €40 million, showing a 35% increase in the first eight months compared to the same period in 2021. According to AGGELAKIS, the company aims to implement a €30 million investment plan over the next three years, covering all aspects of its operations. The plan includes the expansion and modernization of the poultry slaughterhouse, the acquisition of a hatchery unit, investments in new poultry houses covering 20,000 sq.m., the purchase of new packaging machinery, and the creation of a new production line for ready-to-cook products.
At the same time, the company has placed strong emphasis on extroversion, with exports accounting for 10% of its turnover in the first eight months of 2022. AGGELAKIS products are now available in more than 10 international markets.
Sustainable development is also a key priority for the company. After completing the assessment of its environmental footprint, AGGELAKIS has set a goal to become a carbon-neutral poultry business within the next decade. This will be achieved through targeted investments in photovoltaic systems and green energy, as well as by replacing its vehicle fleet with natural gas-powered alternatives.
AGGELAKIS has always focused on people, providing continuous support to the NGO “The Smile of the Child” for the past 15 years, and remaining firmly committed to supporting the local community. Following the devastating wildfires in Evia in the summer of 2021, AGGELAKIS collaborated with the NGO We4All to plant 1,500 olive trees on the privately-owned lands of local producers in Northern Evia by the end of 2022, helping them restore their agricultural production as quickly as possible.
To mark its 60th anniversary, AGGELAKIS S.A. hosted a celebratory event on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the Goulandris Natural History Museum in Kifisia, inviting close partners and friends. Among the attendees were representatives of public institutions, such as the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, Mr. Simos Kedikoglou, the Deputy Regional Governor of Evia, Mr. Giorgos Kelaïditis, and the Mayor of Chalkida, Ms. Elena Vaka, as well as notable figures from the arts, including painter Giorgos Stathopoulos and singer Manolis Mitsias. The event was hosted by actor Renos Haralambidis, with brief addresses by Ms. Mariza Fassianou, honoring her late father, the renowned artist Alekos Fassianos who designed the AGGELAKIS logo, and Mr. Kostas Giannopoulos, President of “The Smile of the Child.”
During the event, Mr. Thanos Aggelakis, CEO of the company, stated:
“Throughout the years, we have stayed true to our values—quality, consistency, and a passion for innovation, always with respect for the consumer. Today, 60 years later, we feel younger and more creative than ever. With passion, dedication, and a strong appetite for growth, we continue to invest systematically in research and development of new chicken-based products that meet the evolving dietary trends and needs of the modern family.”
