Aggelakis S.A., one of the most dynamically growing Greek poultry companies, participated in the International Poultry Symposium organized by the American Farm School on June 19–20, 2024, focusing on the latest developments in poultry farming science and technology.
With the participation of distinguished guests from Greece and abroad, the symposium addressed a range of issues relevant to the poultry sector, including public health, flock health and avian influenza, animal welfare and sustainable farming, food safety, poultry nutrition and management, as well as the economic, social, and environmental challenges facing the industry.
During a roundtable discussion on “Industry and Innovation,” Mr. Petros Spanos, General Manager of Aggelakis S.A., contributed as a speaker, addressing the topic of insect-based protein as an alternative feed source for poultry, and raising key safety questions and requirements for its adoption. He also spoke about plant-based meat substitutes and the extent to which they directly compete with poultry, as well as the company’s environmental performance reporting and indicators—practices that are expected to become mandatory in the near future under upcoming environmental legislation across the sector.Mr. Spanos also shared insights into the history of Aggelakis, emphasizing the company’s long-standing commitment to ensuring outstanding product quality and safety. He highlighted the company’s long-term development strategy and its ongoing efforts toward full vertical integration.
