Aggelakis S.A., a pioneering company in innovative and responsible poultry farming, is actively participating in the three-year research project e-ReUse, led by the Benaki Phytopathological Institute (BPI).
During a conference held at the Regional Unit of Euboea headquarters on July 23, 2025, the project’s objectives and current outcomes were presented, along with the potential for further utilization by producers and regional authorities in support of local and national agricultural development.
Through its participation in e-ReUse, Aggelakis S.A. supports the transition of Greek agricultural production toward a more sustainable and circular model, in which organic waste from poultry and livestock farms is reused on cultivated land and transformed into valuable resources for agriculture. At the same time, smart monitoring tools are employed to ensure the responsible use of resources and to connect production and agriculture with modern practices—for a greener and more resilient future. As a result, the quality and safety of final agricultural products is enhanced, thanks to healthier soils, reduced chemical use, and greater added value for the consumer.
“Through the targeted reuse of organic materials, such as manure, on cultivated land, we are paving the way for sustainable farming, living soils, and reduced dependence on chemical fertilizers. We are applying circular economy principles in livestock farming and agriculture, shaping a new, healthier, and more efficient production model,” stated Mr. Filippos Bourboutsiotis, Operations Manager of Aggelakis S.A., who represented the company at the conference.
“For us at Aggelakis, the e-ReUse project is not a theoretical exercise, but a continuation of our commitment to responsible development and real-world solutions. This initiative addresses a major challenge: transforming waste into resources and turning a problem into a real opportunity for agriculture and the environment.”
The e-ReUse project is implemented with the support of the Region of Central Greece and funded by the Rural Development Program (RDP) 2014–2020. The project is carried out by the Benaki Phytopathological Institute, Green Projects, Aggelakis S.A., and Kelaitidis Farm.
